What a great party! I like three-day weekends, especially when there's no chance of me driving anywhere. Bruce was nice enough to bring some beta Coca Koala and I managed to leave it on top of the fridge. I think I was the only one to drink the wine soda, but I put a nice dent in it anyway. There are little toy frogs everywhere, although the problem with being a subtle prankster is that anything more probable than winning the Lotto is generally ascribed to Anna. I hid a frog in the ice dispenser; Ed thought the frog had been in his glass all along, put there by Anna. There are other frogs, however, not all of which could have been her doing. (Don't worry, guys. I did try to think about the consequences of a critical success -- i.e., a frog so successfully hidden that the first sign of its existence is an awful smell in the oven. "I'm not a heartless bastard, after all.")

I got lost and soaked with Frog and Toad during a rainstorm at Metrozoo. We were looking for otters and didn't find them, but we did find the other people in our group and made it back to the Hollywood station with time enough to stop at Miami Subs. I changed into whatever dry clothes I could find, but I only brought the one pair of shoes. So I changed into clean dry socks on the train and left the sneakers overhead to dry as best they could. This worked tolerably well, except that I couldn't buy anything in the canteen car unless I squished back into those soggy shoes and tracked mud all over their floor. No sympathy from the crew. Screw 'em, I say. Still, I'm glad I got to let someone else drive me to Miami for only $30 round trip.

And now it's time to set things in order for another trip -- this time to Pittsburgh! I'll be online more rarely up there, I think, but I should have lots to talk about when I come back.
