We're looking for a smaller, cheaper apartment and we'll probably start a new lease February 1 so that we've got all of February to move. It's especially important to have the whole month since we're planning to be out of town for at least one weekend.

By February 28th, Jodi and I will be in our new apartment, Amanda will be in Riverview, our current apartment will be empty and spotless, and our new apartment will not look like shit. No, really.

Since we're talking about a 600sqft 1/1, we'll be selling a lot of our stuff and buying smaller stuff. (For example, we'll sell our large dining room table, which is even larger with the drop leaf, and get a smaller one that we saw at K mart.) There will also be an attempt at actual design -- mission-esque furniture, bright primary-color linens in the bedroom, and possibly earthier tones in the living/dining room.

We'll only need one TV, VCR, and DVD player. We'll be selling our large dressers. (I can't even remember how the hell we got that buffet table into the master bedroom, and we certainly won't have room for it in the new place.)

Why are we moving? To improve our finances (we didn't really need the second bedroom, as living with Amanda proved to us), and to pare down our accumulation of stuff so that we'll only have 600sqft of stuff when it's time to move across the country later. It's a lot easier to shuffle things back and forth when we're only moving by a mile.

More details will be posted as they become available. If anyone wants a computer, Jodi will probably be selling hers, and I'll be offering the parts of my old computer (it was Athlon 1800-based, I think) to a good home.

Hey, Ben. Your little bro here. Congrats on the pending move. I think you'll enjoy getting rid of all that stuff. I enjoyed seeing everything I owned in the world fit into Dad's 12'x12' bedroom before I went to Spain. I'm looking forward to seeing the new place once you get settled in!

Sounds shiny. I long for the day when we can get organized enough to get rid of all of our crap. The problem is we keep buying more crap! ;)

Speaking of which, what are the specs on the computer, and how much are ya askin'?

yay for downsizing. we've been eliminating things to friends and charities. it's been great. we still have lots of stuff, but it feels good. the only thing we are allowing ourselves to buy are kitchen and house tools, clothing, soaps/shampoos, books and dvds, and food. i think that's all. might have frogotten something crucial like, oh, gasoline for the car, but not any more 'stuff that isn't utilitarian' and immediately needed.

And what of the animals? That rabbit cage takes up a lot of space.

No word yet; that'll be in a year. Right now Jodi's finishing up her bachelor's degree, training to kick the GRE's ass, and identifying schools to apply to.

Yeah, it does, and pretty much nobody else will let us have rabbits, so they're going back to the SPCA in Pinellas. We signed a contract to surrender the rabbits only to the SPCA, where we know they'll be treated well and adopted only as a bonded pair.

At least they're pretty much guaranteed to go to a good home. Also, less hay on the floor. :)

1800 based

Um, where is Riverview? Any idea where you two will end up?

Riverview is half an hour south of us. Her parents live in a new development surrounded by hicks and meadow muffins. So moving to Texas won't be too much of a change. ;)
