PGH: Arrival
May. 28th, 2003 04:00 pmPosted after returning from the trip.
Tampa's bus system is rather inflexible, and I'm about to be shown a better example of mass transit. I took the express from the Brandon K mart park-and-ride lot to downtown Tampa, then another bus to the airport. No security problems this time, either.
In Atlanta, I ate collards, yams, and okra at Paschal's -- the last taste of Southern cooking for a while, I figured. Yummy!
Jodi met me at the baggage claim in Pittsburgh and we rode the Airport Flyer to a mall, where her friend Nicole's boyfriend Edmond picked us up at the Ikea. (I didn't know they had störés. I thought it was a càtálög-ønlï thing.) He drove us past an extremely amusing sign to Justin's house in Lawrenceville (or possibly Arsenal; it's pretty much the same), which is very cool. It's at the far end of the DSL loop, though, so bandwidth is around 64k.
We took a bus and then a train (subway or trolley, depending on whether or not you're under downtown, a mountain, etc.) to her friend Kelly's place in Beechview. We loaded up her largest bag with lots of clothes and supplies, then went back to Lawrenceville for the night. We met Jodi's aunt (Justin's sister) Annie and her boyfriend Drew; they're on the third floor. I think this was also when I met Jodi's uncle Joe and his wife (fiancée?) Popie.
You know how every family has a weirdo? Well, I think the Geevers must be missing one and recruiting me for the job. Everyone in this family is sweet. Hell, Drew lent me his wi-fi Zaurus the first night he met me. (I gave it back the next morning; didn't want to mess it up.)
