We hosted a picnic this weekend and it went pretty well: lots of food, no food poisoning or irreversible property damage, and a good time was had by most. That's about as good as one can hope for.
The watermelon and dips were mainly ignored, but even the carnivores among the crowd seemed to find the fake meat palatable. The pasta salad is now gone; we still have about two and a half watermelons and loads of other good things left over.

segnbora noted, there was no swimming involved, but perhaps next time we'll make it a pool party. And I think there will be a next time, since this one was such fun.
