Last time I said much, we were in Columbus, OH. Since then we've been in Pittsburgh.
Friday night we arrived at the home of Eamon and Theresa Geever, Jodi's grandparents. There was all sorts of relatively low-key revelry involving food, drink, and music.
Saturday afternoon we went to a banquet hall at the back of a volunteer fire department. I took about 200 photos which will land on Flickr soon, and provided tech support for a laptop and projector. I also had a good time.
Sunday we went to a birthday party for twin cousins (brothers to each other, cousins to us) and hung around with family.
Yesterday was a logistics day - laundry, packing, shopping for gifts, and also visiting our friend Kelly (Jodi's friend for a very long time) and her son Noah. Jodi is now staying with Joe and Popie in Lawrenceville; I'll rejoin her late Saturday night.
And today I was on the road at 3:55am and am about to fly PIT-ATL-SLC. Thank God I'm allowed to bring liquids on the plane. We're taking off in a few minutes...

Bored already
Oct. 3rd, 2006 09:10 amMan, even with Adderall, I'm really getting bored. Guess the difference is that I can tolerate it.
I brought one book with me, Dietrich Bonhöffer's "The Cost of Discipleship". It's uncomfortable stuff, which is why I want to read it. But it's difficult to read all at once, and I'd rather not continue now. Instead, I'll pick up a newspaper while changing planes.
I hope I can find a rapid-charger kiosk, too. I'd like to get my iPod charged up, and maybe this crackberry. (Windows Mobile smartphone, actually.)

Took me most of an hour to get from A3 to T2, clearing security again in the process (and throwing out my 'secure' water and buying another).
The ride to Salt Lake is a cattle car, but it has a power point (and the adapter I got for the car also has an airline adapter; no idea yet whether it works). I'm sweaty and I'm sure the woman next to me wishes I weren't on the flight. I'd prefer a different flight myself.
More when we land, almost 4 blood-clotting hours later.

Yes and no

Yes, there is a power point at my seat; yes, I brought the adapter; and no, it doesn't seem to work. As soon as I plug in the adapter, the green LED at the power point goes out.
So, with no other way of listening to music, I shelled out two bucks for crap headphones (I left the adapter for my headphones in Tampa, damn it, and these crap headphones are hardwired to a double plug and come with an adapter for plugging into normal audio sources; last time I bought crap headphones in mid-air, they were hardwired to a normal plug and came with an adapter for airplane audio).
The movie's starting now, but it's a bowdlerized version of "The Break-Up", which I didn't enjoy all that much in its original form.
..though I find that watching it in Spanish is interesting enough; I know roughly what they'll be saying, and that (with my smattering of Spanish) lets me follow the action.
And Jennifer Aniston is a lot cuter in Spanish.
Well, after all, isn't everyone?
