A presentation by my coworkers on our open-source project went well today. I hope that means we'll get continuing funding. There will be an official release of version 1.4 soon, and I'm rubbing my hands together in anticipation.

I went to IKEA a few days ago intending to buy about a dozen BUMERANG skirt hangers. They were out of stock, which is hard to imagine if you've ever seen the size of the cardboard crates full of merchandise you usually encounter at IKEA. I ended up buying a JÄLL drying rack, which so far has admirably served its purpose for one sweater and is holding a wet sweater flat while it drips dry at this very moment. (I'm from the You-Are-THERE! school of journalism.)

It's T minus a week and a couple days until we host a Halloween party at our currently messy apartment, clean up, and drive to Gainesville for another party. We are party dudes, except for the one who isn't a dude.

The new psych resident (she's the one on the right in this picture) seems to like a confrontational tone, but came off as condescending. She apologized for that and I accepted it. I'm not concentrating as well as I'd like to, but at least I'm less irritable. And I don't mind that she's skeptical of my previous medication, but when she moves on, I'm going to ask her replacement to go back to the old meds.

We had a bit of a scare when we realized the tiger lilies I bought for Jodi were extremely poisonous to cats, but Tabula Rasa (who tried to nom them, and might have gotten away with it in the first few hours) has shown no signs of trouble for the past week. Lethargy is said to be a major symptom, and she just knocked a plastic jug of quarters off the coffee table with the force of her full-speed leap. So I think she must have only nommed the rose leaves, which don't seem to be listed as dangerous. The flowers were drooping so much by this afternoon that we threw them out so that we didn't have to constantly guard the flowers (locking the cats out of the bedroom, etc.).

My iPod is starting to open up a little bit, as if I'd been running a spudger under the top, but I haven't. I've had it for a while and hope to continue to have it for a while.

That's the news from Lake Lanier, where the cats are creating havoc faster than I can restore order. Get off my keyboard!
