  • I've heard two filks of the same tune, and Google tells me it's from a musical I've never knowingly heard a note of.
  • An acquaintance with good taste in musicals is already obsessed with the same musical.

Really, who needs more reasons than that?

I'd love to see that! How should we arrange it?

Um YEAH wicked is awesome.

I even have a sample of me singing "Popular" on my Web site to a karaoke version, doing a damn good impression of Galinda. . . .

I wonder how it compares to the book.

While I found the book interesting, I thought it was a bit too preachy to be actually entertaining.

Of course, I'm a sucker for a good musical :)

Really? Is there a link on http://members.aol.com/swankivy/wicked.html that I'm not finding?

I guess I just didn't want to advertise it there. :)

http://members.aol.com/swankivy2/swankara.html is my karaoke page, and there's some musicals stuff on there--the Wicked one is in there somewhere.

Holy shit, you are GOOD! I would LOVE to sing karaoke with you (and I've never done that before). Where do you sing?

Where do you get your backing tracks? And how do you put it all together? And will you burn me a CD with your mp3s? 'Cause I want this on my pod.

I prefer it to the book. I am a huge musical theatre fan AND a Wizard of Oz freak.

"Popular" is the ringtone on my phone. Kristen kicks ass, she is the perfect Glinda. I would love to see them do an OBC movie version. There are no plans, but Universal backed it. The only other musical they have backed was The Producers. They kept the OBC for that, and they also kept it really close to the stage version (the movie).

Woooooo!@#!@!#!!@

Wow, thanks.

I would LOVE to sing karaoke with you (and I've never done that before). Where do you sing?

I guess in town I've sung at the Green Parrot and at Beer Belly's, but I like the second one better. I don't do it regularly. I just found out a bowling alley near me has karaoke though.

Where do you get your backing tracks? And how do you put it all together?

There's lots of karaoke backing tracks out there, though some of the ones I use aren't mine. The ones for musicals tend to be the most expensive. Bleh. I put a backing track on my mp3 player and sing into my computer mic with the backing track playing only in my ears, and then I sync the same backup track with my recorded voice using WaveLab and some guesswork.

And will you burn me a CD with your mp3s? 'Cause I want this on my pod.

Wow, what a compliment, you want to listen to me more than once. Heh. Umm, well if you want so many of them that a CD is more convenient I could probably arrange it, but if you're just looking for one or two of the ones on the site I can just e-mail 'em. Whee! You like me! You really like me!

LOL, yes, Sally, and for your talent. And also I think it'd be fun to translate some duet into Lower Elbonian and go sing it at each other. Let the others try to figure out what language that is.

I haven't read the book yet (kat just got it as a gift), but the musical was VERY entertaining pretty much all the way through.
