We've got 5-6 of those bookcases, some older than my 17-year-old daughter. I think we've had those kinds of goofs every time we've put one together :-)

That's a relief. Our cat also declared the bookcase fit for use when she hopped up on the fixed-height shelf and meowed.

Our cat has figured out how to get on top of the two bookcases in the kitchen. He loves looking down at his subjects from there. He can also get on top of the cabinets, to that annoying wasted space between the cabinets and the ceiling - but that requires jumping up onto the stove or counters first, and they are FORBIDDEN! (Makes it even better, to him.)

His new goal is to get on top of the metal storage rack. There's a beanie baby up there that he hasn't molested yet.
