Finish line
Dec. 3rd, 2004 03:44 pmFueled by glitchy Aphex Twin, fear of weekend overtime, and (remarkably) no stimulants beyond the Concerta which has kept my recreational websurfing to a minimum, I'm almost done with setting up hundreds of users on the new system. And just in time, too: after this weekend, we're not even allowed to do basic setting-up work until Wednesday night, just before the go-live on Thursday morning.
I will get comp time for any overtime related to this project -- usually one is supposed to make up the time within the same pay period, but in this case that limit will be ignored so that we can work overtime for the next few weeks and still know that we can take paid vacations later on. TBLC is really good to its employees. Jodi's right in saying that it would be better if they hadn't scheduled an upgrade for December, but that's the only time our customers were willing to do it, so here we are. It could be a lot worse. Right, Ed?
Next week will be fairly slow followed by holy shit. Should be interesting. I bypassed the dot-com boom in favor of a stable dot-org, and now it looks like I finally get to pay my dues. :)
