On the danger of cheap power

Let's say that we found a way to make a Mr. Fusion, or some other way to generate almost unlimited power cheaply and safely.

Wouldn't this be a really bad thing? I mean, if everyone starts using all that power, it's going to kick up a hell of a lot of waste heat somewhere down the road, and that could toast us just as fast as fossil fuels.

That's a valid point, but I just don't see 'free power' as something coming down the pike soon. I've yet to hear of commercial fusion energy and even if there was such a thing it would probably still be pretty expensive. If only for the infrastructure and such. Hmmm.

Depends on how strictly you limit the precondition of "cheaply and safely"
