Distributed Proofreaders
Distributed Proofreaders is a group of people who are helping Project Gutenberg by proofreading text before it's submitted to PG. We read one page at a time and do the best we can on the first try. Then someone else checks our first corrections to make sure everything's right. Most texts are in English, and even some of these can be quite complicated. I also like to try proofreading things in Spanish, French, Esperanto and Italian; I'll try other languages, too. (You don't need to know the language, but it helps, especially when the scanned page is missing a few letters on a side of the page. If you don't know Spanish, you might not guess that "on los años ue me quedan" should be "con los años que me quedan".)
