The scent of a Soul

I've noticed a funny thing since I started wearing Soul by Curve.

It's not that anyone has said "Hey, you smell great". It's just that, by taking a few seconds in the morning to do something nice for myself, I get a little boost and I tend to feel better during the day. (And if I need a boost, I sniff my wrist. Seriously.)

I'm glad BzzAgent sent me a free bottle, because I don't know if I would ever have bought this for myself before. But I really like it, and I enjoy wearing it.

I always thought that putting on a fragrance was something that one did for the benefit, or approval, of others. Now I know I'd do this for myself even if nobody noticed.

Am I the only one who didn't know this about fragrances (perfume, cologne, etc.)?

Some essential oils serve that purpose for me. They help me wake up, mellow, or feel more *mrowr*.

For me, sandalwood mellows, mint peps me up, and lotus puts me in the *mrowr*.

I'd advise hitting your local Whole Foods/Wild Oats/crunchy granola megamart and spend some time whiffing the various oils.

Hm. I don't have one of those. I've got Nature's Harvest on MacDill, right around the corner from Alessi, but we don't have a Whole Foods unless I drive to Sarasota, the nearest Wild Oats is even further away, and I don't think the nouveau trache at The Fresh Market would cotton to oil-sniffery. (Good produce and spices, though.)

Nature's Harvest may have oils. I don't think that Fresh Market carries oils like that (at least the ones I've been to here in Atlanta don't).

The next option is hitting the next renaissance festival that comes through your area. There are always oil peddlers there. :)

Eoils are awsome for that. I have a nice little collection and some blends I've made that I just sometimes open up and inhale on and off for about 5 min. :)

It's like catnip for humans, at times. :) Scent is a powerful thing.

By "naturally scented" do you mean "they smell like candles" ;?

As in the wax is soaked in herbs or scented with Eoils instead of artifical chemicals that are normaly used to scent candles. Or even beeswax candles which have a unique scent all their own. :)

I don't wear fragrance, but I definitely noticed the same effect when I started shaving again. I think I even blogged about it then, too. ;)

No, I haven't found myself spending more money. I might use holiday money for a new bottle instead of a kitchen gadget or some movies, but I wouldn't divert money from paying bills or paying off debt in order to indulge.
