Myranda's questions answered...

  1. What first drew you to Jodi?

  2. She's got big boobs. Later I discovered a very nice brain north of them.

  3. As you see it, what is your purpose in the Universe?

  4. I don't think people have a purpose. I don't seem to, anyway.

  5. Your most bittersweet VAX memory?

  6. Finding out that [livejournal.com profile] fizzgig_bites had tried to seduce me (bought me sushi, invited me to her place afterwards) and I was too naïve to notice.

  7. The most irrational fear you've ever had?

  8. Needles. By observing the actual experience when I've had no choice but a blood draw or injection, and comparing it to my fear of having my body punctured by a sharp object, I've managed to get to the point where I could probably give blood voluntarily. I just haven't felt much motivated to do so.

I wouldn't say "seduce" was quite the word. I was interested in you and being friendly. I usually wait a few weeks before seducing someone.

Aw, shucks. Still, what a waste.

to my shame, i have discovered a have a purely physical reaction to blood draws/giving blood. i am fine with a blood draw as long as i don't look. after giving blood i tend to get very weak. this is beyond the, 'you might want some more juice stage'. i will still try to give blood again when i'm not nursing anymore, but i need to warn the techs well in advance.

If it's a purely physical reaction, no shame accrues. If you still associate physical reactions with shame, may I suggest Walt Whitman's Song of Myself as a way of adding a new perspective to your options?

(I want chapter 6 of it read at my funeral, and would like to include it in any memorial services I ever perform.)

i feel i should be able to rise above it, mind over matter. i'm not truly ashamed, it's just that giving blood is an important thing to me. because of this problem, i have not given blood very often.
