If you have more than 40, you're spoiled. :-)

Do you have:

( ) a television in your bedroom [I don't have a bedroom]
(1) an iPod
( ) a photo printer
( ) your own phone line
(2) TiVo or a generic digital video recorder
(3) high-speed internet access (i.e., not dialup)
( ) a surround sound system in bedroom
( ) DVD player in bedroom
( ) at least a hundred DVDs
(4) a childfree bathroom [no kids]
( ) your own in-house office
( ) a pool [access to one, not my own]
( ) a guest house
( ) a game room
(5) a queen-size bed or larger
(6) a stocked bar

( ) a yard
( ) a hammock

( ) good credit
( ) expensive jewelry -- all family gifts though
( ) a designer bag that required being on a waiting list to get
( ) at least $100 cash in your possession right now
(13) more than two credit cards bearing your name (not counting gas cards or debit cards)

(14) a passport
( ) a horse
( ) a trust fund (either for you or created by you)
( ) private medical insurance
(15) a college degree, and no outstanding student loans

Do you:
(16) shop for non-needed items for yourself (like clothes, jewelry, electronics) at least once a week -- books, craft stores
( ) do your regular grocery shopping at high-end or specialty stores
( ) pay someone else to clean your house, do dishes, or launder your clothes (not counting dry-cleaning)

( ) baffled/surprised when you don't get your way

Have you:

( ) been to the Caribbean
(22) been to Europe

(25) hire a professional photographer for your wedding or party
(26) take riding or swimming lessons as a child [at the city pool]
( ) attend private school
( ) have a Sweet 16 birthday party thrown for you

Now here's the short version:

[ ] Do you have access to fresh running water?
[ ] Do you have the option of sleeping indoors?
[ ] Can you generally find food to eat?
[ ] Do you have the time to do LiveJournal memes?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you're spoiled compared to millions of people.
If you answered yes to ALL of the above, you're spoiled compared to a few billion people.

Short Version: Not spoiled..just very fortunate and "rich" in comparison to others.

Oh, it wasn't a slam against you (you're not the only person on my friends list who's posted this), I just thought that a lot of very lucky people (myself included) might be tempted to use this checklist to decide they're not really spoiled.

I agree completely. I live in a neighborhood with a large homeless community and the fact that I get to come inside when it's raining and heat tap water in my tea-kettle on my stove makes me thankful.

I always kinda find these things funny. Cause I've always been spoiled and yet whenever these sorts of things pop up, I always come up as not. I had a computer when I was 6. I mean.. c'mon! :D I had 2 parents, one which was always home until I was in highschool, and almost always got whatever I wanted with in reason (normaly had to wait or get off brand, not like it mattered..)

Don't quite know if I'd agree with your short version compleatly though. Spoiled normaly entails that you have stuff above and beyond what you need to live. The only one that touches that is the last one.

It's so good to be white.
