Please help me play dress-up!
I played dress-up tonight and took some pictures. Please look through my Playing Dress-Up set and tell me:
- Which is your favorite outfit?
- Which is your second-favorite outfit?
- If I could add to my wardrobe, spending no more than $50, what would you recommend I look for?
THANK YOU!

that said, a bowler hat would also work wonders.
(also, blue tie with dark clothing doesn't tend to work as well as a red or burgundy tie, or so I have been reliably informed by at least three people more fashion-conscious than I.)

as a disclaimer, my friends have often threatened to put me on what not to wear, so my opinion really doesn't count.

Hmm, maybe I need to set up the camera for a closeup and try a few hairstyles...

I think that the olive jacket, while nice, looks way too big on you. Is that a trick of the camera? It looks VERY loose and unflattering, considering you DO look as though you've lost some weight and are looking quite good.
Additionally, khaki pants are NEVER right for semi-formal. It's the material, not the color, that's the problem.
Is the darker looking suit jacket actually part of your tux? and what are those pants? It looks as though you've got a suit on, or at least a sport coat and similar color/texture pants. DEFINITELY like that, with the white shirt, and then whichever tie you like best.... hmmm though I'm a sucker for a dark suit with that bright blue shirt color under it. How about some pics of that? Do you have ties that would match it?
If you're looking for things to add to your wardrobe, I'd definitely agree that a nice belt is a good idea. Something tasteful and understated, of course. Also, I don't know how often you wear a tie but perhaps another of those?
Additionally, haven't seen the shoes so can't comment on that. What DO the shoes look like?

I love the blue tie and i'd consider getting some diagonal stripe tie or a frog tie. *grin*
I found the receipt for toad's suit separates. The trousers are ten over your budget of 50, and the jacket was 156, so triple.
The cord jacket is more 'literature professor' than 'dress up'.
I'd still recommened a thrift store for a dark jacket or suit coat for interviews, funerals, and escorting jodi to grad events and once she's a prof to University events.

Consider for other events in daytime a pastel (can you wear pastels?) mint green, pale pink, sea green shirt for wearing out to dinner/daytime uni events etc in miami or other florida place.
I'm not sure what your 'season' color code is. It has to do with skin tone. I'm a winter, should wear bright jewel tones or bright pastels, no 'heathered' *sigh* or greyed beiged things. Those colors make me look washed out, sick etc.
Find out which season/ color scheme you fit under and get the shirts to match.
Also, i frogot, i love blueprint blue colored dress shirts and that would work with the oatmeal jacket or a navy or charcoal and possibly even that tux jacket. hard to see it on my screen, not sure why.
The olive always looks brown to me.
