Which is when handkerchiefs would come back in a big way. Hell, in my family they never left; I wasn't allowed to use Kleenex for blowing my nose in my mom's home when I was still living there. I think Mom only used tissues for makeup that would permanently stain a hanky.

(Did you know that supposedly the buttons on men's coat sleeves originate in Napoleon having useless sleeve buttons added to his soldiers' uniforms to discourage them wiping nose/mouth on sleeves?)
