I am a chick named Elinor.

I am Elinor Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! I am practical, circumspect, and discreet. Though I am tremendously sensible and allow my head to rule, I have a deep, emotional side that few people often see.

I've never read any Austen, not more than a few pages anyway. Maybe I'll have to give this one a try...

S&S was the first Austen book I read. I really enjoyed it. I saw the movie first, though.

Sense and Sensibility is strongly recommended; I also read the book after seeing the movie with Emma Thompson as Elinor Dashwood (a very good adaptation, but the book ALWAYS has stuff they can't fit into the movie). I also have the informational book What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew: From Fox Hunting to Whist--The Facts of Daily Life in Nineteenth-Century England which explains some of the little details that would have been obvious to readers when the book was published.
