I can't remember where it was (maybe an anthro class?or some sort of wind chime?), but I know I'v heard dried bones knocking against each other. I'd describe it somewhere between two pieces of ceramic banging against each other and two pieces of wood doing the same. That said, I don't suppose it helps you. *L*

I suppose that makes sense, and it does help—though Bill Messenger did play some cow bones on the recording anyway. He said that Richards' bones had been bought by his father, and by the time of the lecture, those bones had become so polished that their sound was unlike anything Messenger could provide.

The only listing I could find for Bill Richards was for a percussionist who appears to be a timpani player, so I don't know if that's the same guy.
