This heresy meme seems kinda interesting. I'll have to work on my own version when I've got the time.

And why am I surprised at all to learn that zanna_voodoo is one link away, at most, from tacit, whom I've never met in person, but learned about by spotting his awesome bumpersticker in the apartment complex in Tampa where I first lived when I moved there for library school in 1996?

I'm surprised I didn't know about dellaran's journal before, though. Perhaps if he friends me I'll see something more recent than the sad news of January.

Well, you seem to know figmentj, who seems to know tacit, which doesn't seem all that long and roundabout.

I think it's both LJ and polyness. I think being poly just means you're more open to loving relationships with the people you know, not that you necessarily know more people—but I do think poly people know and keep in touch with more people, on average. (I have a dear friend in Tampa who's poly but he's shy and mostly likes hanging out at home.)
