"Bright Star" Early Learning Center?!

Boy oh boy, if I were running a Christian "Early Learning Center", I would NOT name it Bright Star. The connotations are all wrong.

That seems to be a common trauma around these parts, and one whose survivors tend to be among the best people I know.

Man, do they even read their own source material?

Generally? No, they don't. Most of the fundamentalists, at least, just listen to authority figures and take their word for it. One reason many of those figures prefer the King James Version of the Bible is that it's easier for them to twist meanings and confuse their average congregant.

(I was brought up deep-water Southern Baptist, and husband v.1 was a youth minister, but I got better!)

Ooo, icon love. Got one that says "The stupid shall inherit Venus" or "It's as easy as a trip to Venus"?

Yours is even better!

I don't know who made that one, and neither did the person from whom I got it. It's one of my favorites, though!

Try it yourself and see if you can make it past the begats.

(Actually, I think The Message is a pretty readable version. For example, Genesis 4:9 reads "How should I know? Am I his babysitter?")

The burden is not on me - I'm not the one starting a school based on it.

Aw, it's just a brand anyway. Y'know, "Alpha-Fish approved!"

It's like something straight out of a Neil Gaiman novel.

Yes: the bit about "all gods are bastards". :)
