Bad: missing church
Good: washing my car 6-7pm
It's been years since I last washed my own car. Unless I washed it in Miami Springs while visiting my parents (unlikely because I'd have to drive five hours through bugs immediately afterward), I couldn't have done this since leaving Gainesville in 1996.
It took me a while to make time for it -- Jodi didn't understand why it was important to me. I didn't, either, until I did it. I don't change my own oil, and I certainly don't do bigger repairs, so this is the only thing I can really do to take care of the machine that I wear as a power suit for at least an hour a day. It was so nice to see it shining in the last rays of sunset as I picked Jodi up from campus.
Granted, I park under an oak, so it's not quite as clean now, but I'm not gonna park further away just to keep it cleaner. Pollen comes off easier than bird crap anyway, and Rain-X helps a lot.
Next I'd better take it in for that oil change -- and to get the belt replaced at the garage's expense (I got a noisy one when they replaced it a few months ago)...
