I've had a GrandCentral number for a while, but I'm thinking I might just make it my new public number. Call 404-287-2692 to leave me a voicemail, and Google will attempt to transcribe it for me and send me a text message.

Someone called and tried to send me a smiley, but Google Voice got it slightly wrong, transcribing it as call in dash right parentheses hello instead of :-) hello. But at least it greyed out call in to indicate its diffidence about that part.

It failed to transcribe this voicemail, but I like to think the Googletronic Voicemail Devoiceifier is too busy laughing its cyber-ass off:

I'll keep this brief so I can go to sleep: I've got a phone again. And all my contacts are finally transferred. It took a kludge involving Outlook Express, Excel, Address Book, and iSync, but I managed.

So if you want to reach me, you can once again phone me directly.

But not tonight, please.

Sprint told me that my phone is unfixable, so I bought a used replacement (same model, so no need for new peripherals) on eBay. Until it arrives, though, I have no incoming phone service. If you want to reach me, you can leave a message on Jodi's phone, but there's no guarantee it'll reach me.

Jodi was getting tired of hearing the Jetsons doorbell every time I got a text message. So, since she delights in singing "Duh, Duh Dunnaluh (The FSU Fight Song)" to provoke me, I made a new ringtone in her honor.

You can download it here and send it to your phone free here. (After sending 3 songs, you have to register before sending any more, but it's still free.)

She'll get out of class at around 5:30 tonight. If you want, you can send me a text message to say hi to her.

I've finally got a cell phone with unlimited text, data, after-7pm minutes, and intra-Sprint minutes, and 450 whenever-minutes for $30/mo. (http://www.sprint.com/sero/, use savings@sprint.com for the email address).

I've got it working with twitter and Facebook, and I've started checking out Remember the Milk.

So what else am I missing out on?

(PS: No need to ask for my mobile number now; pretty soon my home number will be ported to the mobile.)
