Back in the office after four straight days of moving -- the last two were actually sick leave because the dust and fur was making Jodi so sick that she used about 3/4 of an inhaler in one day. She now reports that she's using only normal doses. I've only got a few more things to bring up from the old place; the closing is scheduled for Friday at noon. If all goes well (and I'm nervous about this, because it depends on two contractors working quickly), I'll have a fat check Friday night and can pay off most or all of my credit card bills.

We're still working out some infrastructure issues at the apartment -- getting the water turned on in the laundry closet, for example, and getting DSL hooked up. And my room is a nasty dusty mess. But Jodi's healthy, so now I'll have time to get new eyeglasses, and she'll have time to get a rabbit (Heaven help us). And we can finally spend time with dear friends without asking them to schlep boxes and/or heavy things.

I was buying a wireless USB adapter the other day at CompUSA when a guy in a Belkin shirt tried to Chewlies me into buying a Belkin equivalent.

"You know, they've got a thirty-dollar rebate on the Belkin wireless adapter."

"Oh yeah? How much is it?"

"Well, it's thirty dollars off. That Netgear thing only has a ten-dollar rebate."

"But what's the final price?"

"Forty dollars."

"Well, then this would be cheaper then, wouldn't it? Is this what you do? You're a switcher? People come in and buy someone else's products and you try to get them to switch to Belkin?"

"You, uh, could put it that way, yeah."
